Dispelling Darkness, Light has Shone
II Cor 4:6 “And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing.4 In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. 5 For what we proclaim is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, with ourselves as your servants[a] for Jesus' sake. 6 For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.”
POST TENEBRAS LUX—After Darkness, Light
Dispelling darkness, Light has shone
The radiant face of Christ alone!
Not height nor depth, I’ll nothing fear,
Because my sovereign Lord is near.
From out of darkness Light has shone
The wondrous face of Christ alone!
Though blinding foes and tyrants jeer,
I care not if they scheme and sneer;
The brilliant Light of light is here.
Beholding Christ, I will not fear.
From darkest depths the Light has shone
The radiant face of Christ alone!
The God of glory, might, and zeal
Who can alone my blindness heal,
He will the Prince of Peace reveal,
The Worthy One who breaks the seal.
Now, after darkness Light has shone
The wondrous face of Christ alone!
That day our glorious King appears,
All knees will bow, Christ’s name revere;
He’ll wipe away his children’s tears,
Make death and sorrow disappear.
Dispelling darkness, Light has shone
The radiant face of Christ alone!
Eternal Light for endless days,
From faith to sight our eyes we raise,
Adoringly on Jesus gaze,
In wonder sing unending praise.
Dispelling darkness, Light has shone
The glorious face of Christ alone!
