Your Word’s The Lamp that Lights My Path—sola Scriptura

“For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart. And no creature is hidden from his sight, but all are naked and exposed to the eyes of him to whom we must give account” Hebrews 4:12-13).

“Your word is a lamp for my feet and a light on my path” (Psalm 119:105).

Your Word’s the lamp that lights my path,

That rescues me from sin and wrath.

Your Word, the sword, its truth imparts,

Subdues and cleaves my sinful heart.

Sin’s darkness flees before the light,

And in your Light my soul delights.

You recreate my life anew,

So I your holy ways pursue.

Washed pure by Christ from every stain,

I’ll in your righteous paths remain;

For by your law my heart is trained,

My wandering feet by Truth constrained.

Within your precious Word I’m told,

Your Truth’s far greater worth than gold;

My priceless treasure, sure reward,

The living Word, my Sovereign Lord!
