Waiting Hymn
“Wait for the LORD; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the LORD!” Psalm 27:14
“I wait for the LORD, my soul waits, and in his word I hope; my soul waits for the Lord more than watchmen for the morning, more than watchmen for the morning.” Psalm 130:5-6
The ancient wisemen searched to see
The Son, incarnate Deity;
Our faithful God is never late—
The prophets had to wait.
In her womb, the maiden mother knew,
Awaited as the Christ child grew.
Our Mighty Maker’s never late—
Young Mary had to wait.
The aged Simeon longed to see
The promised King who’d set us free.
Our patient God is never late:
Believe, and hope—and wait.
As watchman for the morning waits,
And in God’s name he guards the gates;
Our sovereign LORD is never late:
Fresh courage take—and wait.
We wait here in the shadowland,
Sustained, upheld by God’s strong hand.
Our loving God is never late:
In darkness—pray and wait.
When sorrow comes with grief and woe,
In bleak and silent nights below,
Our Comforter is never late:
Contented be—and wait.
God’s perfect plan has ever stood;
Be still and know that God is good.
Our faithful Father’s never late:
Adore, obey—and wait.
